Inequality is around us across so many everyday settings and a TV project that immediately chimed with me was the POWTV produced Driving Force (Sky Sports/ITV) which was fronted by the brilliant Judy Murray and created and directed by Rosemary Reed of Power Of Women TV.
Over the course of some 18×60 programmes Judy met with and interviewed instantly recognisable leading UK sports women, most of them Olympians and medal winners. This show was primarily concerned with levelling up the playing field and making sure that women are given the same opportunities as men. Especially exciting for me was the outreach work undertaken which took our team across the UK meeting with young women and girls.
Never before have I been involved in a campaign that better exemplified the saying: “If you can see it, you can be it.” Another project that made a huge impact across a spectrum of media platforms and most importantly helped positively shape the future of women’s sport. A good reason for taking on any project. TV can and does make a difference however people need to know where to find the content in the first place! That’s my job!
