A return to live performance with a dash of TV sparkle thrown in for this new writing initiative from Sky Studios and Birmingham Rep.
Birmingham has long been noted as having become a hotbed for comedy talent so to spotlight this one week Festival of new writing and performance in May 2023 I decided that the people of Birmingham and the West Midlands deserved a moment of civic pride. This was achieved through the creation of a digital mural by Birmingham born artist David Hodge who captured in his pop art style portraits of Dame Julie Walters, Sir Lenny Henry, Meera Syal CBE FRSL, Frank Skinner MBE and Joe Lycett.
Having formed a strategic alliance with Ocean Outdoor this imagery lit up and took over the city centre prior to and during the resulting sell-out success which numerous platforms – print, online and broadcast embraced.
